DESCRIPTION/APPLICATION
The RS-232-C Fiber Optic Data
Interface
Connector
links
data
communication equipment and fiber
optic cable. For use in computer,
terminal and printer applications, it
accomodates either duplex plastic or
glass fiber optic cables. Data rates
up to 19.2 Kb/sec.(async) can be
accomodated.
In addition to transferring data in both
directions, it also provides for full
duplex asynchronous data, and 6
control/handshake
lines
via
one
duplex fiber. The link eliminates
EMI/RFI;
extends
RS-232-C
distances up to 2 km; can be
powered directly through DB25 pin
connectors or optional external plug-
in
jack-power
supplies;
and
eliminates
pre-terminated
cable
length problems and delivery delays.
It is available in both male and
female, DTE or DCE configurations,
and is compatible with ST*
connectors.
Installation
is
user-
friendly, on-site; ground loops are
eliminated; and no modifications are
required
for
existing
RS-232-C
equipment. The Thomas & Betts RS-
232-C is designed to bring all the
advantages of fiber optics to
compatible RS-232-C equipment.
