Key Features
The AMIS-42770 dual CAN transceiver is the interface
between controller area network (CAN) protocol
controller and up to two physical busses. The AMIS-
42770 can also be used as a CAN repeater, transferring
serial data from one physical bus to the other. It can be
used for both 12V and 24V systems.
The circuit consists of the following blocks:
Two differential line transmitters
Two differential line receivers
Interface to the CAN protocol handler
Interface to expand the number of CAN busses
Logic block including repeater function and the
feedback suppression
Thermal shutdown circuit (TSD)
Due to the wide common-mode voltage range of the
receiver inputs, the AMIS-42770 is able to reach
outstanding levels of EMS. Similarly, extremely low EME
is achieved by the excellent matching of the output
signals.
Important Characteristics
Applications & Benefits
The AMIS-42770 is the industrial version of the AMIS-
42700 and primarily intended for applications where
long network lengths are mandatory. To cope with the
long bus delay the communication speed needs to be
low. The AMIS-42770 has a prolonged dominant time
out function which allows low transmit data rates down
to 1kbit/s.
The AMIS-42770 is especially designed to provide the
link between a CAN controller protocol IC and two
physical busses. It is able to operate in three different
modes:
Dual CAN
CAN-bus extender
CAN-bus repeater
Typical examples can be found in elevators, in-building
networks, process control, and trains.
