Considerations
? Bond strength is dependent upon the amount of adhesive-to-surface contact developed.
Firm application pressure helps develop better adhesive contact and improve bond strength.
? To obtain optimum adhesion, the bonding surfaces must be clean, dry and well unified.
Typical surface cleaning solvents are isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and water or
heptane. Note: Carefully read and follow manufacturer ’s precautions and directions for use
when using solvents.
? Ideal tape application temperature is 70°F to 100°F (21°C to 38°C). Initial tape application to
surfaces at temperatures below 50°F (10°C) is not recommended because the adhesive may
become too firm to adhere readily. However, once properly applied, low temperature holding
is generally satisfactory.
? As a general rule, four square inches of tape should be used for each pound of weight to be
supported in static load. More or less tape may be required depending upon the particular
application. User evaluation is, therefore, required to determine optimal tape usage.
? Care should be used when bonding to surfaces with very low internal strength such as painted
plaster board, fabric or cloth, wallpaper, blown vinyl, etc. since delamination of that surface
may occur.
? Care should also be taken with wood veneers and highly polished wood as very glossy
surfaces may leave an image when the tape is removed.

For rigid surfaces, lever or pry apart
the substrates to break the bond.
For flexible surfaces, peel back
slowly to ensure clean removal.
To remove tape from substrate,
pull back corner and peel off quickly.
