Transceiver Optical Power Budget versus Link Length
OpticalPowerBudget(OPB)istheavailableopticalpower
forafiberopticlinktoaccommodatefibercablelossesplus
lossesduetoin-lineconnectors,splices,opticalswitches,
andtoprovidemarginforlinkagingandunplannedlosses
duetocableplantreconfigurationorrepair.
Figure4illustratesthepredictedOPBassociatedwiththe
transceiverspecifiedinthisdatasheetattheBeginning
ofLife(BOL).Thesecurvesrepresenttheattenuationand
chromaticplusmodaldispersionlossesassociatedwith
the62.5/125mand50/125mfibercablesonly.Thearea
underthecurvesrepresentstheremainingOPBatanylink
length,whichisavailableforovercomingnon-fibercable
relatedlosses.
