Enable Feature
Pins 15 (EN1) and pin 10 (EN2) are enable logic control pins. If EN1 is biased to a low state (0v) then the
input side of the switch will internally terminate all paths that connect to OP1. EN2 internally terminates all
paths to OP2. This feature should be used to maintain proper impedances at the input side of the switch in
the event a poor match is presented at OP1 or OP2. Utilizing the enable function will maintain the required
125-ohm load at the power splitter, on the input side of the switch.
The enable functionality may be overridden and not used on the HMC2394. If the enable pins are overrid-
den then they should be tied to the Vdd bias rail. Pins 10 and 15 can be connected together and then
routed to Vdd. This should NOT be done directly underneath the package, as it might compromise the RF
ground plane, and adversely affect isolation.
DC BLOCKING AND DECOUPLING CAPACITORS
The HMC2394 requires DC blocks on all 6 RF ports. Characterization on the HMC2394 was done using
0603 size 330pF capacitors on all RF ports. A 0.01
mF DC decoupling capacitor (0603 size) is recom-
mended for the Vdd pin.
