DESCRIPTION:
The LVCH2240A device is designed specifically to improve the perfor-
mance and density of 3-state memory address drivers, clock drivers, and
bus-oriented receivers and transmitters.
This device is organized as two 4-bit buffers/drivers with separate
output-enable (
OE ) inputs. When OE is low, the device passes data from
the A inputs to the Y outputs. When
OE is high, the outputs are in the high-
impedance state.
The LVCH2240A has series resistors in the device output structure
which will significantly reduce line noise when used with light loads. This
driver has been developed to drive ±12mA at the designated thresholds.
To ensure the high-impedance state during power up or power down,
OE should be tied to VCC through a pullup resistor; the minimum value of
the resistor is determined by the current-sinking capability of the driver.
Inputs can be driven from either 3.3V or 5V devices. This feature allows
the use of this device as a translator in a mixed 3.3V/5V system environ-
ment.
The LVCH2240A has “bus-hold” which retains the inputs’ last state
whenever the input goes to a high impedance. This prevents floating inputs
and eliminates the need for pull-up/down resistors.
