0.25Ωsenseresistorconsistsoffour1Ωresistorsinparal-
lel.Thefourgroupsofresistorsarearrangedtominimize
theoverlapintheircurrentflows,whichminimizesmutual
resistance.Thehorizontalslitscutinthecopperhelpto
keepthecurrentsseparate.Widecopperpathsconnect
eachgroupofresistorstotheviasatthecenter,sothe
resistanceisverylow.
Properconnectionofthesenselineisalsoimportant.In
Figure21,U1isnotconnecteddirectlytotheVEEplane
but is connected instead to a Kelvin sense trace that
leadstothesenseresistorarray.Similarly,theviaatthe
centerofthesenseresistorarrayhasamatchinghole
intheVEEplane.Thisarrangementpreventsthemutual
resistance of the four large vias from influencing the
currentmeasurements.
