mance. The peak inductor current is approximately:
Input Capacitor
A 4.7μF ceramic input capacitor is recommended for
most applications because of its low equivalent series
resistance (ESR), equivalent series inductance (ESL),
and cost. To ensure stability over a wide temperature
range, an X5R or X7R dielectric is recommended.
The input capacitor reduces peak currents drawn from
the power source and reduces noise and voltage ripple
on the input caused by the circuit
s switching. The input
capacitor must meet the ripple current requirement

) imposed by the switching currents defined by
the following equation:
Choose a capacitor that exhibits less than 10

C tem-
perature rise at the maximum operating RMS current for
optimum long-term reliability.
Output Capacitor
A 4.7μF ceramic output capacitor is recommended for
most applications because of its low ESR, ESL, and
lower cost. To ensure stability over a wide temperature
range, an X5R or X7R dielectric is recommended.
Key selection parameters for a ceramic output capacitor
are capacitance, ESR, and voltage rating. These affect
the overall stability, output ripple voltage, and transient
