MEMS
Tap/VOA
Hybrid
Attenuators
DiCon's MEMS Tap/VOA Hybrid is based on a micro-electro-
mechanical system (MEMS) chip integrated with a thin film filter.
The thin film tap filter couples a portion of the input signal to an
output tap fiber while transmitting the rest of the input signal
onto a movable MEMS mirror. The MEMS mirror position
depends on the applied voltage, thereby adjusting the power level
coupled into the attenuator (VOA) output fiber.
Features
MEMS Attenuator with integrated input Tap
Combines power level control and power monitoring
Preserves board real estate through hybridization
Smallest attenuator hybrid package in the telecom industry
Applications
MEMS Tap/VOA Hybrids are used in telecom modules which require
power level control and power monitoring. Examples of such modules
are VOA-MUX/DMUXes, OADMs with integrated power equalization,
Dynamic Band Equalizers, Dynamic Channel Equalizers and Fiber
Amplifiers.
