Description
This oscillator is a compromise between the
performance of an OCXO and those of a MCXO
over
wide
temperature
ranges. The
main
applications are "hold-over" modules for military
GPS at high temperature and all applications
where high stability and low power consumption
are required and low frequency jump.
Using a dual uncompensated quartz resonator,
it allows low power consumption and high
reliability. The frequency drift is compensated
by software using EEPROM programmed with
calibration data.
An external digital system (i.e. micro-controller)
is necessary for calibration.

Product description
The device uses two internal oscillators:
One oscillator (1) is used for the frequency reference
(Fref), while the other oscillator (2) is the
temperature sensor (Ftemp). The sensibility of
Ftemp to temperature variation is extremely high
(<0.001° C resolution).
The oscillator (2) will supply the temperature drift
information to an external digital system. (i.e. micro
controller of GPS system)
This
data
is
used
to
calibrate
the
thermal
compensation of the oscillator (1).
The
reference
frequency'
deviation
over
the
temperature range will be calculated by a calibration
algorithm using the data stored in the CDXO'
EEPROM.
