Stackable Lugs with Interlocking,
Anti-Rotation Mechanism
Applications:
Multiple terminations on a singular stud in a high vibration
environment such as: starter motors on diesel engines and
electrical motors on compressors or pumps
Customer Concern:
A manufacturer of industrial trucks needed to improve the
long-term reliability of electrical components. A typical
application includes multiple lugs stacked on a single stud.
The inherent vibration caused the multiple stacked lugs to rotate
and become loose, which created poor electrical connections
resulting in failures, electrical shorts and warranty claims.
PANDUIT Solution:
Stackable Lugs with Interlocking, Anti-Rotation Mechanism
PANDUIT developed a tubular terminal with an interlocking
mechanism that allows the terminals to be stacked and oriented
in 45° increments. When a fastener is tightened down on the
stud, the assembly securely locks together preventing rotation
of the parts. In-house reliability testing verified the enhanced
performance of the anti-rotation feature.
Stackable lugs use the same barrel dimensions as standard
parts and do not require special crimp tooling.
Application Considerations:
Consult factory to determine if the stackable feature is available
for your current size of lug.
Ensure that interlocking anti-rotation mechanisms between
lugs are fully engaged before securing the fastening nut.
These lugs can be used in non-stacking applications and
are interchangeable with lugs that do not have the interlocking
anti-rotation feature.
