TheSP3224E/3225Eare2-driver/2-receiverdevicesandtheSP3226E/SP3227Eare1-
driver/1-receiverdevices.Allareidealforcomputerperipherals,point-of-saleequipment,
consumer and embedded applications. These devices use an internal high-efficiency,
charge-pump power supply that requires only 0.1μF capacitors in 3.3V operation. This
chargepumpandExar’sdriverarchitectureallowittodelivercompliantRS-232perfor-
mancefromasinglepowersupplyrangingfrom+3.0Vto+5.5V.Atvoltagesbetween2.7V
and3.0VthedriveroutputsarecompliantwithRS-562andcaninterfacetoRS-232over
shortcables.
TheAutoOn-linePlusfeatureallowsthedevicetoautomatically“wake-up”duringashut-
downstateupondetectingactivityandtoenteralowpowershutdownifidle.Thispower
savingfeaturefunctionswithoutsysteminterventionormodificationstosoftwareordriv-
ers.
