2.2.2
Luminance Processing
The digitized composite video signal from the output of the A/D converters passes through a luminance
comb filter or a chroma trap filter that removes the chrominance signal from the composite signal to generate
the luminance signal. The luminance signal is then fed to the input of luminance signal peaking and coring
circuits. Figure 2–5 illustrates the functions of the luminance data path. In the case of S-video, the luminance
signal will bypass the comb filter or notch filter and be fed to the peaking and coring circuits directly. High
frequency components of the luminance signal are enhanced further by the peaking filter (edge enhancer).
