Application Information
5.1
Operations
The YPB09S30 is a 30A power conversion block
which requires an external PWM to operate as a
non-isolated, single output buck regulator.
Configured in this way and powered from an input
voltage range from 4.5V to 13.5V, the YPB09S30
can provide up to 30A of output current with the
output voltage from 0.8VDC to 1.8VDC.
With
appropriate output current derating the output
voltage can be set up to 5.5V.

The YPB09S30 should be connected to the DC
power source via low impedance means. In many
applications, the inductance associated with power
distribution from the source to the input of the
converter can affect the stability of the converter. It is
recommended to use low ESR tantalum, POS, or
ceramic decoupling capacitors placed as close as
possible to the converter input pins in order to
ensure stability of the converter and reduce input
voltage ripple. Internally, the converter has 40 μF
(low ESR ceramics) of input capacitor.
It is important to keep low resistance and low
inductance PCB traces for connecting the load to the
output pins of the converter in order to maintain good
load regulation.
It is recommended to use low - ESR tantalum, POS
or ceramic decoupling capacitors placed as close as
possible to the converter output pins in order to
ensure stability of the converter and reduce output
ripple voltage. Internally, the converter has 20 μF
(low ESR ceramics) of output capacitance.
5.2
Overtemperature Protection
The YPB09S30 has an on-board temperature
sensor. The external supervision circuitry should
continuously monitor temperature of the unit in order
to ensure proper operation and adequate protection.
