1. External Components
C1 :
Output capacitor. Due to impulse noise and frequency characteristics considerations, we
recommend a value of 100
μF.
C2 :
Oscillation prevention capacitor. We recommend using a polyester film capacitor with excellent
thermal characteristics. This capacitor is used together with R1.
C3 :
Decoupling capacitor (ripple filter)
C4 :
Switching regulator output smoothing capacitor. The LA4901 adopts a self-excited switching
regulator technique. Since this capacitor influences the self excitation stability characteristics and
the regulator efficiency, there is an optimal value for this capacitor. We recommend using a 2.2
μF,
25V OS capacitor with a low equivalent series resistance and excellent thermal characteristics. For
the same reason, resistor R2 (2.2
Ω) is used together with this capacitor.
C5 :
Power supply capacitor
C6 :
Switching regulator oscillation prevention capacitor. We recommend a value of 1000pF.
C7 and C8 :
Oscillation prevention capacitors. We recommend using polyester film capacitors with excellent
thermal characteristics. These are used together with R3 and R4.
Note that since there are cases where stability may change somewhat due to the printed circuit
board layout or other factors, we recommend using a value of 0.1
μF or larger for these capacitors.
C9 :
Beep tone amplifier input capacitor. Use the same value capacitor as used for C10. Note that if the
beep tone function is not used, the beep amplifier input should be connected to PRE-GND through
C9.
C10 :
Input capacitor. We recommend a value of 2.2
μF. Note that the low audio band can be adjusted by
changing fL with the capacitance of C10. (Due to impulse noise considerations, a value of 3.3μF or
lower must be used (when C11 is 22
μF)).
C11 :
Sets the amplifier turn-on delay time. We recommend a value of 22
μF. (The turn-on delay time for
this value will be about 0.7 seconds.) While the turn-on time is proportional to the value of this
capacitor and can be set arbitrarily, we recommend using a value of 22
μF or larger due to impulse
noise considerations.
C12 :
Decoupling capacitor (ripple filter)
C13 :
HP input capacitor. We recommend a value of 1
μF.
R5 and R6 :
Standby switch current limiting resistors. We recommend a value of 10k
Ω.
(When a voltage of 3 to 14V is applied to the standby switch). Note that these resistors cannot be
omitted or removed. See the description of the standby function elsewhere in this document.
TR1 :
External switching transistor. We recommend using the 2SD1667 (S rank).
D1 :
Flywheel diode to take up the energy from the coil. We recommend using the SB10-05A2, which
is a Schottky barrier diode with a low VF.
L1 :
Inductor coil. We recommend the NEC Tokin Corporation HP-011Z (200
μH).
