Analog Comparator
An analog comparator circuit which is independent of peripheral cir-
cuits in the microcomputer is incorporated (Note).
An analog comparator outputs the result of comparison with an input
voltage of CMPREF pin which is specified as a reference voltage and
an input voltage of CMPIN pin to CMPOUT pin. The result is "1" when
the input voltage to port CMPIN is higher than the voltage applied to
port CMPREF and "0" when the voltage is lower.
Because the analog comparator consists of an analog MOS circuit,
set the input voltage to the CMPIN pin and the CMPREF pin within the
following range :
VSS +1.2 V to CMPVCC–0.5V
sNote
The analog comparator circuit is separated from the MCU internal
peripheral circuit in the microcomputer. Accordingly, even if the mi-
crocomputer runs away, the analog comparator is still in operation.
For this reason, the analog comparator can be used for safety circuit
design.
