1. OVERVIEW
The MTC311XX-XXX-01 (hereafter abbreviated as MTC311XX) is a solid-state I/O card that
utilizes flash memory in accordance with the PC Card ATA Specification of Release 1.02. The
MTC311XX is used in host systems that have a PC card slot.
The MTC311XX is composed of flash memories developed for the SSD (Solid State Disk), a micro
controller and a high performance interface controller with the host system.
The flash memory consists of NOR type single transistors that can be read from or written to in
512-byte units. High quality performance is achieved by using an ECC (Error Correcting Code)
for error detection and correction.
Because of the high performance controller, it is not necessary for the host system to directly erase
or write to the flash memory. The host system can access the MTC311XX by ATA (AT
Attachment) or equivalent commands.
The MTC311XX can be operated with only +5V. Host systems containing PC card slots can
control the card in a similar manner as other memory cards or I/O cards.
