11.5 A System With Parity
In this case, the FCT16511 is used to generate parity for all the write accesses to the devices and the DRAM. In a CPU
read access the FCT16511 will check parity and will assert the ParErr* signal when an error is detected. The GT-
64010A will indicate to the CPU that the returned data is erroneous via SysCmd[5] and will interrupt the CPU if the
bank that the CPU read from was programmed to have parity integrity checks. The GT-64010A also asserts SysCmd[4]
to indicate to the CPU if the read access was from an address with parity integrity so that the CPU will check parity
internally as well. In PCI read accesses, an active ParErr* to a bank that has parity integrity, will cause an assertion of
PErr* on the PCI. Notice that with the FCT16511 the OEAB* polarity is active low, as opposed to the FCT16501, and
thus OEB from the GT-64010A should be programmed accordingly at reset. This system configuration is for little
endian, no decrement.
