Data Retention Mode
The contents of RAM and CPU registers are retained at supply voltages as low as 2.0V dc. This
is called the data-retention mode where the data is held, but the device is not guaranteed to
operate. The RESET pin must be held low during data-retention mode.
11.4
COP Watchdog Timer Considerations
The COP Watchdog Timer is enabled by default after a reset, and can be disabled by writing a “0”
to the COP bit in the Option register (bit 6 at address $1D). Once enabled, any execution of the
STOP instruction will be executed as a WAIT instruction. That is, the STOP mode cannot be
entered if the COP Watchdog Timer is enabled.
If the COP Watchdog Timer is enabled, the COP will reset the MCU when it times out. For a system
that must have intentional uses of the WAIT mode, care must be taken to prevent such situations
from happening during normal operations by arranging timely interrupts to reset the COP
Watchdog Timer.
