10.2 4-Wire Sensor Modules and One-Wire Interface (PRG):

, GND) Sensor Module Application, as shown in Figure
45, there is an optimum way to deal with the PRG pin. For minimum component count you can put the
required pull-up resistor, Rp, for One-Wire (PRG) communication on the PGA309 PC Interface Board. After
Sensor Calibration is complete a final write to the EEPROM is done. During this final write to the EEPROM
the PGA309 One-Wire interface, PRG pin, can be configured to be disabled. This means that it can now float
without any adverse consequences such as high current draw through V
S
or erroneous digital communication
due to transients on the PRG pin.
To disable the One-Wire Interface set the OWD bit to ‘1’ during the final EEPROM program write. The OWD
(One Wire Disable) bit is located in Register 4 [Bit15]. After this “final” programming all is not lost, as any
power-up sequence will allow the One-Wire Interface (PRG pin) control, if communication is initiated within
25ms of the application of power to the PGA309.
