App Note [1] Biasing - As shown in the bonding diagram, this device requires several different bias voltages to properly operate.
Additionally, in order to avoid any potential damage to the device the voltages should be sequenced in the following order. Start by
applying voltage to the Fine Phase Shifter pad using Vpsh=3.0V. Next apply base voltages to the Vector Modulator and Frequency Divider
devices using Vbb_vmod=(-3.0V) and Vbb_div=(-1.45V) respectively. Next apply I/Q input voltages to the Vector Modulator using
Vi1=Vi2=Vq1=Vq2=(-2.5V). Lastly, apply emitter voltages to the Vector Modulator, Buffer Amplifier, Frequency Divider and Frequency
Doubler devices using Vee_vmod1=Vee_vmod2=(-6.0V) and Vee_buff=Vee_div=Vee_dbl=(-5.0V) respectively.
App Note [2] Bias Arrangement - Each DC pad needs to have DC bypass capacitance (~100-200 pf) as close to the device as possible.
Additional DC bypass capacitance (~0.01 uF) is also recommended.

These numbers were calculated based on accelerated life test information and thermal model analysis received from the fabricating foundry.
Theory of Operation
The 9OSC0313 MMIC is a Voltage Controlled Oscillator circuit which provides the user with unparalleled flexibility in terms of oscillation
frequency, tuning range and phase-noise. The principles of operation are the same as the 9OSC0315 oscillator MMIC, however an off-chip
resonator filter replaces the fixed on-chip filter of 9OSC0315. This circuit requires a user-specified external filter to generate up to 1 GHz
tuning bandwidth over the range 6 to 12GHz. Additional output signals are provided at a doubled frequency and a prescalar output (/4) for
integration with COTS synthesizer devices. The phase-noise and tuning range are determined by the filter characteristics as described in
this note.
The oscillator uses the basic principle of the classic feedback oscillator. Figure 1 is a diagram showing a simple feedback oscillator.
