Programming the Current-Limit
The Current-Limit threshold can be set by
connecting a resistor (R OCSET ) from drain of low
side MOSFET to the OCSet pin. The resistor
value can be obtained by using Fig. 24.
It is important to pay careful attention to the
layout of this resistor. It is recommended to
place this resistor close to the IC and away from
possible noisy traces. A small ceramic capacitor
from this pin to ground can also be place for
noise rejection purposes.
The trip current Itrip is given by:
I trip = I max + I L , Peak - - - - ( 7 )
where
I max = Maximum DC load current * 1.5
I L , Peak = Peak Inductor Current
For a maximum DC load current of 8.5A
and an inductor ripple of 3A
I L , Peak = 1 . 5 A
? I trip = 8.5 * 1.5 + 1.5A = 14.25A
From Fig. 24 we get R OCSET = 5 . 23 K Ω
