PRELIMINARY DATA
The ST5x86
microprocessor is a high perfor-
mance 586-class CPU compatible with all popular
x86 operating systems, including DOS, Windows,
Windows NT, Windows95, UNIX, Novell, OS/2 and
Solaris.
The 586-class performance is achieved by a
superpipelined architecture in the integer unit com-
bined with data forwarding, branch prediction,
16-KByte write-back cache, single-cycle instruc-
tion decode, and single-cycle execution.
The 5x86 processor provides many power saving
features that make it ideal for power sensitive sys-
tems. The CPU automatically powers down the
Floating Point Unit (FPU) and other internal cir-
cuits when they are not in use.
Fast entry and exit from System Management
Mode (SMM) allow frequent use of the SMM fea-
ture without noticeable performance degradation.

and 50 MHz bus options
