5.2 Interrupt Registers
The DTTV demodulator generates interrupts based on events that occur
in specic functional blocks within the chip. These events are reported to
the
interrupt registers, which provides this information to the
microprocessor. The read-only
interrupt registers contain a bitmap
indicating the events. The
interrupt registers are associated with the
interrupt mask registers.
Two types of events can be of interest to an external microcontroller:
Those that relate to severe impairments. The external microcontroller
evaluates the severity of these events and takes corrective action.
Events relating to operational changes in the DTTV demodulator.
These types of events occur during normal operation, and the
external microcontroller monitors them.
5.2.1 Interrupt Register Implementation
Any events reported in the
interrupt register assert the INTn signal
(active LOW). On receiving an interrupt signal, the microcontroller reads
the
interrupt register to identify the cause(s) of this interrupt. In doing so,
the microcontroller resets the
interrupt register until a new interrupt
occurs. To disable the interrupt mechanism permanently, reset the
interrupt mask register. Interrupt generation is illustrated in Figure 5.2.

Note that a read access to address 0 resets interrupt register 0, and a
read access to address 1 resets interrupt register 1. This does not mask
new interrupts that arise when the host reads the interrupt register.
Therefore, if the host reads the interrupt register, each interruption is
either reset or set again if a new interrupt occurs.
