5.12 XCTR Pins Register
The L64781 has three control pins called XCTR0, XCTR1, XCTR2 that
are general-purpose pins to allow the output of various signals.
5.12.1 XCTR Register Pins Operation Modes
The XCTR pins can be used in three different modes:
3-wire mode
In 3-wire mode, the XCTR_OUTx pins are connected to the
WIRES3_OUT(x) register. The 3-wire register emulates the 3-wire
bus protocol and controls the tuner.
The WIRES3_IN register is not multiplexed; only the WIRES3_OUT
is. The WIRES3_IN register is therefore always connected to the
XCTR_IN pins.
Variable-voltage mode
In this mode, each of the three pins (XCTR0, XCTR1, and XCTR 2)
can generate a sigma-delta (
Σ/) output that, after RC ltering,
represents an 8-bit analog value that can be programmed through
internal register. The objective is to allow L64781 users to generate
a constant voltage to be used somewhere on the board, by
programming the corresponding required value in one of the three
8-bit registers (ANALOG_VOLTAGE_1, 2, or 3). Figure 5.8 shows the
overall diagram.

Sync pin mode
To allow debug on evaluation boards, the L64781 also uses the
XCTR pins to output some internal synchronization signals, such as
S3, TPS_SYNC, FRAME_SYNC, FREQ_SYNC, CLOCK_SYNC,
START_SYNC.
