Freeze Frame for One
Frame Time
If freeze frame is implemented on every frame and if the source of the
MPEG compressed data can be controlled to feed in MPEG compressed
data on request, the effect of Slow Motion can be achieved.
Note that the eld parity is maintained whenever freeze frame is issued;
that is, the TOP eld is always an Odd eld and the BOTTOM eld is
always an Even eld.
Figure 6.11 shows an example of freezing a frame for one eld time. In
this example, frame B2 is displayed in eld times O3/E3, and then using
freeze frame, it is repeated during elds times O4/E4. Note that LSI Logic
recommends stopping the decoder whenever freeze frame is issued.

‘e’ indicates even elds and ‘o’ indicates odd elds

After rst decode start, there is a 3 eld delay before display starts displaying valid frames. In this example
decode start at eld e0 and display starts at o2.

‘T’ means Top eld and ‘B’ means Bottom eld.

It is recommended to Stop the decoder during freeze frame.
