OTG MODE (ON THE GO)
The ID detector is primarily used to determine if a mini-A
or mini-B style plug has been inserted into a mini-AB style
receptacle on the application. However, it also supports two
additional modes which are outside of the USB standards: a
factory mode, and a non-USB accessory mode. The state of
the ID detection can be read via the SPI to poll dedicated
sense bits for a floating, grounded, or factory mode condition
on the UID pin. There are also dedicated maskable interrupts
for each UID condition as well.
Since portable applications have limited capabilities, this
supplement to the USB2.0 specification was developed in
order to allow a portable device to take the role of a USB host.
In this mode of operation, SWBST is internally switched to
supply the VUSB regulator, and SWBST will drive VBUS from
the VINUSB pin as long as VBUSEN pin is a logic high = 1.
According to the USB2.0 specification, the USB host is the
device where the USB Host Controller is installed, through
which it interacts with the USB devices. The USB host is
responsible for:
Detecting the attachment and removal of USB devices.
Managing control flow between the host and USB devices.
Managing data flow between the host and USB devices.
Collecting status and activity statistics.
Providing power to attached USB devices.
When working in host mode, VUSB is supplied from the
VBUS wire of the USB cable (VBUS).
