VDD
Digital Power. Connect to +3.3V.
VSS
Ground. Connect to digital ground (GND).
VIO
I/O Voltage Clamp. Connect VIO to the highest I/O input voltage
(+5V or +3.3V). Because +5V is required for Codec analog circuit
power, it is recommended that VIO be connected to +5V.
Note: Controller ESD protection design requires that certain
precautions be taken to avoid excessive current draw through the
VDD pins. If the VDD voltage level, or the level on any input, is
greater than the VIO voltage level, internal diodes will become
forward biased, resulting in current flow from VDD to VIO which will
cause permanent damage to the Controller. To avoid this in +3.3V
PCI systems, VIO should be connected to the same supply source
as are the VDD pins. In a +5V PCI system, VIO must be attached to
a +5V supply. In either case, the VIO supply must never fall below
the VDD voltage level.
