PCI PnP EEPROM Interface
The serial EEPROM interface is used to load PCI configuration parameters after a reset occurs. After the PCI reset signal is
negated, the configuration data is read from the serial EEPROM and stored in the PCI configuration registers internal to the
Controller.
While the serial EEPROM data is being read and is being loaded in the configuration registers, any PCI access that occurs
will receive a RETRY signal. After completion of the serial EEPROM reads, the device will accept PCI transactions.
The configuration data to be read from the serial EEPROM is shown in . The serial EEPROM may be disabled and manually
removed from the board in order to save cost. By connecting SEEPDI pin 102 to GND, no serial EEPROM reads will be
performed, and the listed default values will remain and be read as the base addresses for the device set.
A Visual Basic application supplied with the RipTide drivers allows users to customize the values of particular PCI
configuration registers once the PnP EEPROM is programmed.

PCI DMA Transfer
The Controller can manage 10 DMA channels simultaneously over the PCI Bus. This is accomplished through PCI master-
mode memory or I/O accesses.
The first 8 channels are accessed and programmed by the host through the Modem Function (Function 1) interface. The two
additional DMA channels are accessed and programmed by the Controller on-chip processor rather than the host, and
operate through Audio Function (Function 0). The 10 channels are given equal access through a round-robin scheduling
scheme.
