Channel
Decoder
Interface
The L64007 receives input through the Channel Decoder Interface. The
channel decoder interface accepts MPEG-2 system transport packets in
serial or 8-bit parallel format. The channel decoder interface provides
sync byte detection and synchronization, and it implements a sync
lock/unlock hysteresis mechanism. The internal sync lock mechanism
can be bypassed by asserting the sync bit in the Channel Control regis-
ter. An external sync signal is provided (CDSYNC). Once the channel
decoder interface establishes synchronization, it transfers incoming
transport packets to the PID Processor (through the channel FIFO) and
to the Clock Recovery Unit. The channel decoder interface provides
hardware and software error detection, as well as an interrupt signalling
and status ags update upon sync lock or sync unlock.
The channel decoder interface detects an error condition when one of
the following occurs:
