Clock Recovery
Unit (CRU)
The CRU in the L64007 transport demultiplexer locks the frequency of
the Local Master Clock (LMC), driven by an external VCxO, to the pro-
gram time base (see Figure 2.5). The program time base is transmitted
to the L64007 by a 42-bit Program Clock Reference (PCR) value. This
value is encoded in the adaptation eld of certain transport packets in
intervals
≤100 ms; the value represents the clock count of the source
program clock reference. Each program in the multiplexed transport bit
stream carries its own time base reference in the form of PCR data.
